The 2020 BJJ Australian Open rolls into Byron Bay on Sunday 23rd February. The venue for the event is the Cavanbah Centre on Ewingsdale Rd. Registrations are currently open with discounts for early birds. Kids can take part in a round robin Gi and No-Gi event, whilst juveniles, adults and masters are single elimination for both Gi and No-Gi. Adult Gi Open Weight has cash prizes on offer for each belt division with 8 or more competitors. Absolute No-Gi also has cash divisions. A teams challenge will take place on the day with Southside Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to defend their crown against Team Carlson Gracie. Winners take home $750 cash and the trophy. Registration ranges from $60 to $90 for adults and masters, $50 to $80 for juniors and juveniles. The fee increases from early bird to standard to late registration.
