Competition approved headgear that is precision made according to AIBA guidelines. The Sting AIBA Competition Headguard is made of premium leather on the outer an Amara lining on the inside for comfort and durability.
The shape ensures a secure fit and helps minimise the chance of slipping. A cut away profile ensures a good field of vision and peace of mind. The design has an open face, and keeps the ears tucked away and helps reduce injury. Hook and loop adjustments (Velcro) in different places provide a fast fitting way to secure your headgear.
Shock protection comes by the way of a neo gel inner and gel fusion for impact dispersion. The padding is thick in the areas of the temple, brow and cheek giving you maximum protection.
AIBA Approved
As an officially approved and endorsed product by the AIBA, the gear needs to meet strict guidelines. Sting is one of only 7 companies in the world that have this approval for headguards (at the time of writing). In AIBA sanctioned competitions, only approved headgear may be used.
The Sting AIBA Competition Headguard is available in two colours, red and blue. This is competition standard as set by the red corner and blue corner.
Sizing
There are in four different sizes available. To determine which size suits you, measure the circumference of your head. Recommended sizing is as follows:
- Small (S): 21″-22″
- Medium (M): 22″-23 1/2″
- Large (L): 23 1/2″ – 25″
- Extra Large (XL): 25″-26″
Note: If you are looking at competing in amateur boxing, especially as a junior, approved headgear in many tournaments is a must. In saying that, some gyms will supply the head guards for their boxers on the day. Check first with your trainer to see what your options are if you’re considering buying gear before your first fight. If you’ve done the time and rounds, and moved out of novice competitions, then both a red and blue Sting AIBA Competition Headguard should be considered for your comp day kit bag.
